maximum of 15 participants

to allow maximum participant-instructor interaction

Students say: “This was by far the most useful for processing my images to make them the best that they can be.”—Sharon N.  “Colby is a humorous and inspirational instructor. He is an obvious leader in his field as well as being passionate about his students learning.”—David P.  “Colby’s videos (that come with the workshop) are the best for referencing what was explained in class. It’s like having a refresher available anytime—great learning tool!”—Tammy L. Learn Photoshop while learning techniques you can use right away! Who doesn’t want to look younger, weigh less, look more beautiful, and have those edgy special effects on their portraits? If you don’t, then this is definitely not the class for you. If you do, read on. This class will teach you a plethora of Photoshop techniques to make your portraits stand out. We start with the basics and by the end you’ll be using advanced techniques like multiple layers, masks, and blending modes. You’ll learn all sorts of creative and edgy effects, including photographic weight-loss techniques (that work even if you are eating a doughnut) as well as how to make people look younger, do facial contouring, apply digital makeup, adjust problematic skin tones, enhance hair or remove facial hair, make eyes pop, add textures and borders, replace backgrounds and much, much more. We’ll also discuss how to control the viewer’s attention. Just as important, this course is designed so that you can easily reproduce what you’ve learned in the future. Photoshop can be very complicated and it’s easy to forget what you did. After all, what value is there in learning something you will quickly forget? This class will give you a repeatable workflow that you can apply to every portrait, and you get video tutorials on all the covered material so later on, when you are wondering what Colby said in class, you can go back and see and hear it again. Due to the access to these videos the class is designed for a wide range of Photoshop skillsets from beginner to advanced. Also, you will be given actions which will allow you to do everything covered in this class quickly. You might know what these are but advanced users do and pay alot for them!
  • We will be working with and using Photoshop CC but Photoshop version CS5 and higher will get most of the material.
  • Computers & Laptops not required (you will be given video tutorials on challenging parts). Feel free to bring yours if you like. I would suggest only intermediate and advanced Lightroom users to do so. Otherwise, you may be working on what I talked about five minutes ago and miss alot of material. If you have any particular questions about your individual challenges, they will have to be address during the breaks, lunch, before or after class or always feel free to call.
This is a Professional Photographers of America (PPA) Continuing Education workshop. No worries if you ar not a member of PPA or a professional–you can participate. If you are a PPA member, participants will receive a service merit towards you Master or Craftsman degree. It also counts a continuing education for Certified Professional Photographers.   Check my schedule for other up-coming presentations, photo-walks, and/or workshops. Additionally I offer other opportunities like mentoring and technical support which you can checkout.  If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
